Eric Tobin- President and Lead Consultant.

Business Related Experience:Business Related: Eric Tobin has served as the president and CEO of Tobin International LLC since its founding in 2001. Eric has served at the organizations lead consultant working on a wide range of projects from the creation of new businesses such as the Inspire Community Development Federal Credit Union, the first credit union to become federally chartered in over 30 years, to community development projects such as the Athens Area Community Development Project. As a consultant Eric has personally reviewed or written over 400 business plans. Eric focuses his attention on innovation, creativity, value, diversification, and protecting the environment. Business and organizations involved in tourism, entertainment, outdoor activities, renewable energy, Art and culture, the community, helping low income individuals, animals, and nature tend to be his strong suit. Prior to starting Tobin International LLC, Eric was a financial planner working for a division of Citigroup and prior to that First of America Bank. His major projects have included:

  • Athens Area Community Development Project from July 2007 to December 2009, serving as the Project Manager. Duties: Provide an analysis of the community at large and determine proper courses of action to promote community and economic development based upon the needs and wants of the community members. This included a door to door survey campaign throughout the Athens Township where 20% of the residents had been given a survey. This analysis addressed area stakeholders, residents, business owners and the youth with the community. A five year strategic plan was written and launched using the survey information as its guide.
  • Fort Custer Reptile and Amphibian Projects from April 2003 to Present serving as the Lead Field Researcher. Duties: Coordinate all aspects of a research project at Fort Custer Training Center including managing all field staff, survey work, and scientific reporting.
  • Battle Creek Chamber Foundation Self Employment Program from April 2007 to December 2010 serving as a coach for the program. Duties: Provide leadership, motivation, and mentoring of participants within the program. Review completed coursework and final review of business plans and feasibility studies.
  • Inspire Community Development Federal Credit Union from March 2006 to April 2007 serving as the Project Coordinator. Duties: Building the credit union from a concept to reality: designing, developing, and implementing an outreach program that engaged our community as well as brought in more than 1,200 surveys that positively support the credit union. Managing relationships with the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, the National Credit Union Administration, and the Michigan Credit Union League. Writing a strategic business plan and forecasting the health of the organization for the next five years. Successful grant writing and securing of funds for operational expenses and deposits. Formation of a marketing campaign that will provide a steady stream of referrals as well as allow the credit union to refer its members to service organizations for services, such as free tax preparation and financial education classes. Facilitating the selection of the location, name, and mission of the credit union. Recruiting and training the Board of Directors. Managing all activities needed to secure a charter. Overseeing formulation of bylaws and policies. Developing products and services in a creative and innovative manner to meet the needs of the community.
  • Eric has also worked on countless other projects and has worked as a contracted employee for the Kellogg Company, Waste Management, and Archway in the Accounts Receivable, Sensory, Procurement, Customer Service, Inventory Control, and Launch Program Management departments.

Education Related Experience:Eric currently has a Bachelor─ągree in Business Administration with a double major in Management and Marketing. He also has a Master's Degree in Non-Profit and Education Leadership. In high school and college Eric was active in two marketing organizations, Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and Delta Epsilon Chi. Competed state-wide and nationally in Finance and Credit Marketing and Travel and Tourism, winning first in the state and third in the nation.

Board Related Experience:Eric currently serves on the Athens Village Council and the Athens Village Planning Commission. Eric has also served on the Calhoun County Road Commission, Calhoun County Board of Public Works, Chairman of the Calhoun County Board of Parks, BC Chamber FoundationÓČ»an review committee, Athens Area School Board, and President of the Michigan Society of Herpetologists and their past Treasurer.

Reptile Related Experience: Eric Tobin of Tobin International has been involved with the captive care of Reptiles and Amphibians for over 15 years. He has been actively involved with the Michigan Society of Herpetologists since 1998 and has served as president of Society since 1999. Over the course of the last 15 years Eric has learned how to properly care for Reptiles and Amphibians having cared for many of the more popular and not so popular species available in the trade. As president of the Michigan Society of Herpetologists, Eric has led the organization to record setting fund raising and overall effectiveness of promoting MSH's mission of educating the public about Reptiles and Amphibians. Eric has been instrumental in the running MSH's largest event, Reptile Weekend, for the last 10 years, bringing a record breaking 9,000 visitors to Binder Park Zoo in 2004 for that weekend. For the Society Eric has created and run several education programs and presentations. Furthermore Eric has conducted professional Reptile and Amphibian related surveys for over 15 years for clients such as the Kalamazoo Conservation District, Michigan DNR, Michigan Natural Features Inventory, and the Michigan Department of Military and Veteranffairs.
